Brownsville tops Geibel Catholic in FCCA Shoot-Out
Brownsville boys soccer defeated Geibel Catholic, 5-2, on Saturday in the Fayette County Coaches’ Association Shoot-Out at Connellsville Stadium.
The Falcons (2-0) won the shootout over the Gators, 3-0, after the match was tied, 2-2, after full time.
Nate Kovascek, Colton Dellarose and Jake Sabatula all connected on their penalty kicks in the shootout.
Brownsville scored the opening goal in the first half when Sabatula set up Dellarose for a 1-0 lead.
Shandon Marshall netted an unassisted tally to extend the Falcons’ advantage to 2-0.
Geibel Catholic (0-2) fought back in the second half with two penalty-kick goals.
In other boys soccer action on Saturday, Ringgold won its opening match, 5-0, over Penn Hills, but fell to the hosts, 3-1, in the Canon-McMillan Tournament.
