Falcons go 3-1 in quintangular; Trojans’ Roberts takes first

Brownsville 22, California 37; Chartiers-Houston 20, Brownsville 35; Brownsville 15, Burgettstown 50; Brownsville 15, Washington 50; Chartiers-Houston 21, California 38; California 15, Washington 50; California 15, Burgettstown 50 – Brownsville went 3-1 and California’s Charles Roberts was the overall winner in a Section 3-AA boys quintangular cross country meet at Washington Park on Tuesday.

The Falcons defeated the Trojans, 22-37, and host Washington and Burgettstown, 15-50, but fell to Chartiers-Houston, 20-35.

California lost to the Bucs, 21-38, but beat Washington and Brownsville, 15-50.

Charles finished the course in 17:13, which was 1:23 quicker than runner-up Mat Clark (18:36) of Chartiers-Houston. The Bucs’ Angel Fernadez (18:50 was third, Washington’s Ethan Fine (19:18) was fourth and Burgettstown’s Brandon Launder (19:26) was fifth.

The Falcons’ top two runners were Ray Brumley (20:08) and Nick Seto (20:10), who placed seventh and eighth, respectively, with teammate Cameron Kromer (20:29) 10th. Noah Diggs (21:41) and Jayden Wall (21:53) were 13th and 14th.

Following Charles for California were Matt Shimko (11th, 20:30), Josh Gwyn (15th, 22:16), Tom Roberts (22nd, 23:42) and Carter Popelas (23rd, 23:48).
