Falcons score 1st half goals in downing Gators, 5-2
Brownsville trailed early to Geibel Catholic but rallied for three goals in the first half en route to a 5-2 non-section victory in boys’ soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Geibel Catholic.
The Falcons’ Jake Sabatula tied the match at 34:47 of the first half with teammate Trevor Stewart setting up the goal.
Sabatula set up CJ Eperjesi for Brownsville’s second goal at 22:59 for a 2-1 lead. The visitors extended their lead to 3-1 when Mark Sheranek added an unassisted tally at 21:40 of the first.
The Gators (0-3-1, 0-4-2) cut the deficit to 3-2 at 4:53 remaining in the half.
Eli Ruffcorn (Carlos Ramirez assisted) and Nick Climes (unassisted) scored for the Falcons (4-0, 7-0-1) in the second half.
Brownsville had 19 shots on goal to four for Geibel Catholic. Falcons keeper Nate Kovscek made two saves.
Brownsville returns to the pitch on Tuesday night when it hosts Charleroi (4-1, 5-3) at 7 p.m. in a 3-AA match at Redstone Field.
