Six boys advance out of Section 2-AAA qualifier
Six boys kept their individual golf season alive Monday by advancing through the Section 2-AAA qualifier hosted by Elizabeth Forward at Butlers Golf Course, Woodside.
Albert Gallatin’s Aaron Fetzner and Cole Bogozi, Laurel Highlands’ John Ek, Belle Vernon’s Jake Caldwell, and Elizabeth Forward’s Angus McHolme and Joe Klingensmith all finished lower than the target score of 80.
The six golfers now advance to the WPIAL Class AAA Boys Individual Semifinals at either Donegal Golf Course or the Links at Spring Church on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
Caldwell, Klingensmith and McHolme shared medalist honors after finishing at 4-over 76.
Fetzner and Ek both shot 78, while Bogozi was right on the cut with an 80.
Laurel Highlands’ Steven Ross and Greg Hensh were just off the target score with an 81. Connellsville’s Chase Richardson and Elizabeth Forward’s Matt White and Christian Jordan were all close as well, finishing with an 82.
Uniontown’s Rylee Levander (84) and Kali Jones (94) also played the boys sectional.
