Monessen tops Falcons in boys soccer, 5-1

Monessen defeated host Brownsville, 5-1, in a non-section boys soccer match on Saturday.

The Greyhounds (8-4) out-scored the Falcons (9-2-2) 3-1 in the first half to take control.

Jake Sabatula accounted for Brownsville’s lone goal with an assist from Shandon Marshall.

The Falcons, who have already clinched a WPIAL playoff spot, travel to Yough in a return to Section 3-AA play on Tuesday. Brownsville sits in first place in the section.

Monessen, which is in third place in Section 4-A, hosts front-running Seton LaSalle on Tuesday.
