Zimcosky’s home run leads LH to 15-3 win
Laurel Highlands 15, Thomas Jefferson 3, 5 innings – Nate Zimcosky’s home run invoked the mercy rule as Laurel Highlands defeated visiting Thomas Jefferson, 15-3, Thursday afternoon in Section 3-AAAAA action.
Zimcosky belted a three-run homer with one out in the bottom of the fifth. He led the Mustangs with four RBI.
Laurel Highlands (4-0, 4-0) led 4-0 after the first inning, 5-2 after the second and 8-2 after the third.
Thomas Jefferson (1-3, 3-5) scored one in the top of the fourth inning, but the Mustangs countered with three in the bottom of the inning.
Mason McManus went 3.1 innings for the win. He allowed three runs (two earned) with one walk and one strikeout. He also went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI.
Travis Sankovich went 4-for-4 with a triple, three singles and two RBI for the Mustangs. Evan Voyten added a double. Ian Edenfield and Tanny Erminio both went 2-for-4 with Erminio driving in three and Edenfield two.
Laurel Highlands hosts Latrobe this afternoon.
