Hall throws 3-hitter as Lady Falcons defeat Uniontown, 6-1
Payton Hall threw a three-hitter as Brownsville beat visiting Uniontown, 6-1, in a non-section softball game on Wednesday.
Aubri Hogsett and Samantha Tressler both doubled for coach Jane Bock’s Lady Falcons (3-6). Ashley Zosky and Chai Diggs had two hits apiece in a 10-hit attack.
Hall struck out four and walked two.
Jess Daniels had two hits for the Lady Raiders (2-6). Losing pitcher Hannah Guthrie struck out eight and walked three.
Uniontown took a 1-0 lead in the first, but Brownsville surged in front to stay with a four-run second.

Frazier 17, Fort Cherry 0 – Frazier needed only innings to secure Logan Hartman’s no-hitter as the Lady Commodores cruised to a 17-0 home victory Thursday afternoon against Fort Cherry in Section 3-AA action.
Hartman struck out six and allowed only one base runner on an error.
Emi Curcio, Kayla Matway, Rylee Evans, Lauren Mastowski and Kara Mastowski all doubled in the win, while Kathryn Barch legged out a triple.
Frazier improves to 5-0 in the section and 6-3 overall.

Monessen 18, Avella 0 – Mattie Telegraphis knocked in seven runs with two home runs and a single as Monessen mauled visiting Avella, 18-0 in three innings, in a Section 2-A softball game on Wednesday.
Winning pitcher Dana Vatakis got eight of nine outs on strikeouts in tossing an abbreviated no-hitter and added a double with the bat. Hannah Yorty also doubled for Monessen.
The Lady Greyhounds (6-1, 5-1) exploded for 11 runs in the first inning and seven more in the second to quickly put away the Lady Eagles (0-6, 0-5) in three innings due to the 15-run mercy rule.

Chartiers-Houston 13, West Greene 11 – Ella Brookman hit a three-run homer to cap an eight-run fourth inning to help Chartiers-Houston rally for a 13-11 victory over visiting West Greene in a non-section clash between softball powers on Wednesday.
Kasey Scears had three hits, including a double and a homer, for the Lady Bucs (7-1), who are one of the premier Class AA programs in the WPIAL.
Jade Renner drove in runs with a double and a home run, and Madison Renner also doubled and homered and had two RBIs and two runs for the Lady Pioneers (7-2), who are the defending PIAA Class A champions.
McKenna Lampe had three hits, two doubles, two RBIs, two runs and a stolen base, and Madison Lampe chipped in with a triple and an RBI.
C-H starting pitcher Kaitlyn Dittrich lasted only three innings, with Karlyn Bayer relieving and going one inning to earn the win. Brookman, who had two hits, tossed the final three innings to record a save.
Losing pitcher Jade Renner allowed nine earned runs on 10 hits with four walks and five strikeouts in five innings.
West Greene trailed 1-0 before putting up four runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to go up 5-1.
Chartiers-Houston surged to a 9-5 advantage in the bottom of the inning. Both teams scored twice in the sixth and the Lady Pioneers notched one more run in the seventh before Brookman put them away.
Baseball
Keystone Oaks 5, Uniontown 2 – Keystone Oaks defeated Uniontown, 5-2, in a key Section 3-AAAA softball game on Wednesday.
The victory moved the Golden Eagles (4-3, 3-3) into a tie with the Red Raiders (5-4, 3-3) for fourth place in the section.
Winning pitcher Sam Tortorella came within one out of a complete game before hitting the pitch limit. He struck out six and walked one.
Jeremy Wytiaz had a double for KO.
Losing pitcher Alan Vansickle allowed three earned runs on six hits with no walks and three strikeouts in five innings.

Track & field
Waynesburg Central 90½, Washington 58½; Waynesburg Central 124, Charleroi 23; Washington 103, – The Waynesburg Central girls were just too much for visiting Washington and Charleroi, securing a sweep of the home Section 6-AA triangular Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Raiders defeated Washington, 90½-58½, and Charleroi, 124-23. Washington defeated the Lady Cougars, 103-24.
Waynesburg won the 3,200 relay in 11:49.59 and the 400 relay in 54.20 seconds.
Taylor Shriver (100 high hurdles, 17.67; 200, 28.99; pole vault, 8-6), Kaitlyn Pester (1,600, 6:31.92; 3,200, 14:21.0), Maci Gray (800, 2:47.21), Bree Echegaray (high jump, 4-9), and Madison Brooks (shot put, 37-7; discus, 92-11; javelin, 82-8) all finished first for the Lady Raiders.
Charleroi’s Shayla Watkins won the 300 intermediate hurdles in 54.11 seconds.

Washington 91, Waynesburg Central 55; Waynesburg Central 98, Charleroi 47; Washington 104, Charleroi 36 – Washington was too deep of Waynesburg Central and Charleroi, as the Prexies swept a Section 6-AA triangular at Waynesburg Central.
Washington defeated the Raiders, 91-55, and the Cougars, 104-36. Waynesburg earned a split with a 98-47 victory over Charleroi.
Daniel Layton (110 high hurdles, 15.62), Caleb Shriver (100, 11.59; 200, 24.12; triple jump, 39-11), Gabe McConville (1,600, 5:13.42), and Will Behm (pole vault, 12-6) all had overall first-place finishes for the Raiders.
Warren Hammond (discus, 123-9) and Sean Kwasny (800, 2:22.63) defeated all competitors for Charleroi.

Beth-Center boys 86, California 54 – Nine different Bulldogs won an event as Beth-Center topped host California, 86-54, in a Section 6-AA boys track and field meet on Wednesday.
The Trojans got two wins apiece from Dustin Mock in the 110 high hurdles (16.5) and 100 (11.96), and Matt Shimko in the 1,600 (5:40.36) and 3,200 (13:56.99).
Individual winners for B-C were Dominic Clutter in the 400, Bryce Lincoski in the 300 intermediate hurdles (46.68), Jacob St. Claire in the 800 (2:30.5), Ron White in the shut put (40-3), Jordan Blackburn in the discus (140-3), Anthony Merman in the javelin (150-7), Makiah Bayus in the long jump (17-11.5), Max Malonsky in the triple jump (37-11) and Michael Bedar in the high jump (4-10).
Tyler Kubala won the 200 (24.62) for the Bulldogs.
Clutter also helped B-C win the 1,600 relay (4:07.13) and the Bulldogs took first in the 3,200 relay.
The Trojans won the 400 relay (Makiah Bayus, Bryce Lincoski, Brandon Lincoski and Talon Balog in 47.54).

Beth-Center girls 73, California 67 – Olivia Greco and Sydney Urbine each won two events to help Beth-Center edge host California in a Section 6-AA girls track and field meet on Wednesday.
Greco took first in the 800 and 3,200 (16:24.22), while Urbine won the 100 (13:33) and 400 (1:08.25).
The Lady Trojans got three first-place performances from Marissa Bitonti, in the shot put (29-0), discus (83-6) and javelin (118-0), and two from Annalise Gillespie, in the triple jump (30-6) and high jump (4-10).
Other individual winners for California were Makalya Boda in the 100 high hurdles (17:55) and Bre Trusler in the 200 (28.66).
Other individual winners for the Lady Bulldogs were Casey Falcon in the 1,600 (7:07.25), Markie Louis in the long jump (13-8.5) and Kinlee Whited in the 300 intermediate hurdles (49.3).
The Lady Bulldogs swept all three relays.

Waynesburg Central 96, Frazier 50; Waynesburg Central 85, Bentworth 61; Bentworth 86, Frazier 54 – The Waynesburg Central girls were a little deeper than visiting Frazier and Bentworth Thursday afternoon for a sweep of a Section 6-AA triangular.
The Lady Raiders defeated the Lady Commodores, 96-50, and the Lady Bearcats, 85-61. The Bentworth girls secured an 86-54 win over Frazier.
The 3,200 relay (12:07.50), Taylor Shriver (100, 18.86; pole vault, 10-6), Kaitlyn Pester (1,600, 6:31.19; 3,200, 14:10.11), 400 relay (57.04), Emma Mankey (400, 1:08.87), Maci Gray (800, 2:58.06), Bree Echegaray (high jump, 4-10), and Madison Brooks (shot put, 32-6) finished first overall for the Lady Raiders.
The Lady Bearcats’ Brenna Cavanaugh won the 100 (13.26), 200 (29.07), triple jump (30-2¾), and long jump (16-3). Jocelyn Timlin (300 intermediate hurdles, 56.79), Lindsay Davis (discus, 76-1), Hannah Roberts (javelin, 62-4), and the 1,600 relay (5:04.45) also finished first overal.

Waynesburg Central 91, Frazier 51; Waynesburg Central 103, Bentworth 8; Frazier 108, Bentworth 20 – The Waynesburg Central boys track & field team took care of business Thursday afternoon, sweeping past visiting Frazier and Bentworth for a pair of Section 6-AA victories.
The Raiders defeated the Commodores, 91-51, and the Bearcats, 130-8. Frazier salvaged a split of the triangular by defeating Bentworth, 108-20.
The 3,200 relay (11:13.22), Will Behm (110 high hurdles, 17.42; pole vault, 13-0), Caleb Shriver (100, 11.97; triple jump, 39-9½), Gabe McConville (1,600, 5:34.59), 400 relay (48.02), Troy McIe (200, 24.83; high jump, 5-4), Nick Guess (3,200, 13:59.07), Josh Galbreath (shot put, 39-5), Avery McConville (discus, 93-4), and Scott Benco (javelin, 128-10) all had overall first-place finishes for the Raiders.
Frazier’s Christian Mingrino (400, 59.96), Ryan Balentine (300 intermediate hurdles, 45.56), Robert Acklin (800, 2:35.09), 1,600 relay (3:57.08), and Julian Muccioli (long jump, 19-10¾) all finished first overall.
