Lady Rockets top California, 8-4, in 8 innings

Jefferson-Morgan 8, California 4 – Jefferson-Morgan scored four runs in the eighth inning to earn an 8-4 win at California in a Section 2-A softball game on Thursday.

The Rockets (3-5, 2-5) are 1 1/2 games behind Mapletown for the fourth and final playoff spot in the section.

Caitlyn Dugan was the winning pitcher.

The game was tied, 3-3, heading into the seventh. J-M scored one run in the top of the inning to take a 4-3 lead but the Lady Trojans (1-8, 1-7) answered with a run in the bottom of the frame to force extra innings.

Marlee Renner had three hits for California and Ashley Gush singled twice.
