Jensen DeCarlo Applause
Brownsville Rotary Club recently honored Jensen Robert DeCarlo as its February student of the month.
A son of James and Susan DeCarlo of Brownsville, he is a senior at Brownsville Area High School.
DeCarlo is a four year-participant in the California University Upward Bound program. He also participates in the High School Early Admit Program. He is a member of the Senior Cabinet.
His high school involvement includes Interact club, art club, yearbook club, and computer technology club. DeCarlo participated in high school musicals as a stage crew member, as well as a member of the ensemble.
He was a two-year member of the cross country team, where he qualified to run in the 2015 WPIAL meet. DeCarlo is a five-year member of the marching band where he played alto sax, then learned tuba. He is a three-year member of the North Union VFW post 8543 band, where he plays tuba.
DeCarlo volunteers in the community by lighting luminaries for Light Up Night, and setting up and removing flags in downtown Brownsville. He job shadowed in summer 2017 at the Mon Valley Performing Arts Academy.
He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of California. He was a member of the youth team that went on a mission trip to Appalachian in West Virginia to help improve living conditions of homes.
DeCarlo will attend California University in the fall where he will major in commercial music technology.
