Destinie Olesko Applause
The Education Council of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce recently honored Destinie JoEllen Olesko of Grindstone, a junior at Brownsville Area High School, as a student of the month for January.
A daughter of Bonnie and John Olesko, she plans to attend California University of Pennsylvania to study earth science with the career goal of becoming a meteorologist.
She is employed at the Penn Craft Market in Penn Craft.
Her community involvement includes being a member of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church of Grindstone, cheer coach for Brownsville Area Midget Football and a dancer at Dee Dee’s Studio of Dance.
She is involved in the extracurricular activities at Brownsville, including cheerleading and the musical.
Olesko is a member of the Spanish National Honor Society and the Penn State 4.0 Club. She has also won an attendance award from the Challenge Program and the Brownsville Area Superintendent’s Achievement Award.
Elected by their schools based on academic achievement, extra curricular activities, and citizenship, students of the month are honored by the Chamber’s Education Council. They will be presented a recognition certificate at the Students of the Month Dinner in April of 2018.
