Salanieta Waganivalu Applause
The Education Council of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce recently honored Salanieta Waganivalu of Brownsville, a junior at Brownsville Area High School, as a student of the month for January.
A daughter of Venilove Waganivalu and Akuila Waganivalu, she plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh or Penn State University to study civil engineering with the career goal of becoming an engineer.
She is involved in the extracurricular activities at Brownsville, including Students in Action, debate club, Interact Club, Career Community Leaders of America, environmental club, the Future is Mine, basketball and volleyball.
Her community involvement stems from many of her school extracurricular activities.
Waganivalu is an honor roll student, has received a varsity letter for volleyball and an Academic Achievement Award from the Challenge Program.
Elected by their schools based on academic achievement, extra curricular activities, and citizenship, students of the month are honored by the chamber’s Education Council. They will be presented a recognition certificate at the Students of the Month Dinner in April.
The Brownsville Area Students of the Month (second semester) were sponsored by the Dellarose Law Firm.
