Local players to play in Roundball Classic

The Roundball Classic showcases the top senior basketball players in western Pennsylvania and several local standouts have been selected to play in the all-star games on Friday-Saturday, April 20-21, at Geneva College in Beaver Falls.

The weekend includes three games on Friday and four more games on Saturday.

The Friday schedule has a girls game at 6 p.m., followed by boys games at 7:30 and 9. All three games feature talented seniors from the WPIAL and City League, with District 10 playing in the second boys game.

The games on Saturday are girls Class AAAA/District 10 vs. Class AAA/AA/A (2 p.m.) and Class AAAAA vs. Class AAAAA (4 p.m.), and boys Class AAA/A vs. Class AAAA (6 p.m.) and Class AAAAA vs. Class AAAAAA (8 p.m.)

Belle Vernon’s Kelsey Green plays for Bishop Canevin’s Scott Dibble’s East squad and Beth-Center’s Kinlee Whited is on St. Joseph’s Sally Ackerman’s West team in the opening game on Friday.

Bentworth’s Levi Jordan, playing for Baldwin’s Joe Urmann, is on the East squad, facing Belle Vernon’s Joe Sabolek playing for the West team coached by Blackhawk’s Brooks Roorback in Friday’s 7:30 p.m. game.

Jefferson-Morgan teammates, D.L. Garrett and Jalen Torres, are part of the WPIAL Class AA/City League team, coach by Sewickley Academy’s Win Palmer, that plays District 10 all-stars in the final game on Friday.

Charleroi’s Maria Claybaugh and California’s Bailey Vig, playing for Winchester Thurston’s Monica Williams and the WPIAL Class AAA/AA/A team, open the slate of game on Saturday at 2 p.m. against the WPIAL Class AAAA/District 10 all-stars.

Ringgold’s Ashley Briscoe is on the WPIAL Class AAAAA squad, coached by Oakland Catholic’s Shannon Kearney, that plays the Class AAAAAA all-star team coached by North Allegheny’s Spencer Stefko at 4 p.m.

The boys take the floor at 6 p.m. with Brownsville’s Shandon Marshall and the Class AAA/A all-star squad, coached by Lincoln Park’s Mike Bariski, playing New Castle’s Ralph Blundo’s Class AAAA all-stars, featuring Uniontown’s Kam Fitzgerald, Elizabeth Forward’s Will Greijack and Waynesburg Central’s Darton McIntire.

Laurel Highlands’ Bryce Laskey and Mars’ Rob Carmody WPIAL Class AAAAA all-stars play the Class AAAAAA all-stars in the final game at 8 p.m. Connellsville’s Seth Younkin was named to the squad, but is unable to play because of an injury suffered near the end of the basketball season.
