Mustangs shut out in non-section setback at Morgantown

By The 1 min read

Laurel Highlands ran into a tough left-handed pitcher on Saturday in a 1-0 setback to Morgantown at Mylan Park.

The Mohigans’ Andrew Kerzak had a no-hitter through 5 2/3 innings before allowing two singles, but finished the final inning and a third for the win. He allowed no runs on two hits with seven strikeouts and four walks in throwing 104 pitches.

The Mustangs’ Mason McManus broke up the no-hitter with a single to left before Ian Edenfield’s single put runners at first and second. Kerzak got the next batter to fly out to end the threat.

Laurel Highlands (13-1, 13-2) threatened in the seventh when Richie Mehall and Tan Erminio walked, but Kerzak was about to work his way out the jam. The Mustangs’ Chad Petrush was robbed of extra bases when Preston Fox made a diving catch for the first out in the inning.
