Danae Rugola Applause
The Education Council of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce has honored Danae Rugola of Uniontown, a junior at Uniontown Area High School, as a student of the month for March.
A daughter of Don and Angela Rugola, Rugola plans to attend Youngstown State University, but is undecided about her course of study.
Rugola’s other awards and honors include highest academic honors, the Rose Ziegler Award for Scholastic Art and Writing, Fayette Chamber of Commerce Extra Effort Award, Daughters of the American Revolution Award, Esmark High School All American, All County Golf Team, WPIAL Girls’ Sectional Golf Champion Class AAA, Tri-State Section PGA Junior Class Champion, Fayette County Coaches Association Champion, Maria Elias Memorial Scholarship for Dance and Alexis Ficks Welsh Memorial Scholarship for Dance.
She is very involved in the extracurricular activities at Uniontown High, including student council, Interact Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions, golf team where she is captain and is vice president of the junior class.
Danae has work experience at Fore-Caddie at Nemacolin Woodlands.
She is a member of St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church and youth group, is a youth golf mentor and member of the Dunlap Lake Co-op. She also dances at Lorraine Susa Dance Unlimited and is a Tri-County Athletic Directors Association Volunteer.
Elected by their schools based on academic achievement, extra curricular activities, and citizenship, Students of the Month are honored by the Chamber’s Education Council. They were presented a Recognition Certificate at the annual Students of the Month Dinner.
The Uniontown High School Students of the Month (2nd semester) were sponsored by United Bank and Dennis Lumber and Concrete.
