Brownsville begins defense of WPIAL title with win at West Mifflin

Brownsville rallied from an early 5-1 deficit to open defense of its 2018 WPIAL championship with a 12-7 non-section victory at West Mifflin on Tuesday.

Nick Keeney had four hits, including a run-scoring double in a seven-run fourth inning that put the Falcons in front to stay, and knocked in four runs.

Preston Frost stroked three hits, Mike Petrok delivered two hits and two RBIs, Austin Lincoski contributed a pair of singles, two runs and an RBI, and Derek Timko had two hits and drove in one run in a 13-hit Brownsville attack.

Cameron Brosky earned the win, allowing one run on three hits in 3 2/3 innings of work in relief of starter Nick Climes. Brosky struck out two and walked two. Zachary Kutek allowed one run over the final three innings to earn the save.

The Titans countered a Brownsville run in the top of the first with five in the bottom of the frame. Coach Skooter Roebuck’s Falcons came right back with three runs in the second to pull within one then surged to an 11-5 lead with seven runs in the fourth.
