Cougars clinch section crown with 9-3

The Charleroi boys soccer team clinched the Section 3-AA crown Tuesday night with a 9-3 victory at Brownsville.

The Cougars improve to 10-0 in the section and 12-0 overall. The Falcons go to 4-4-1 in the section and 6-5-1.

Eben McIntyre netted four goals in the first half for Charleroi, while Jace Kepich scored a pair. Jacob Jericho also scored in the first half.

Nate Kovscek’s goal at 34:47 tied the game, but the Cougars responded with six goals.

McIntyre score his fifth goal at 27:15 of the second half. Caruso extended the lead to 9-1.

Tyler Duda and Thomas Ruffcorn closed the scoring for the Falcons.

Charleroi’s Nick Goodwin made six saves, while Brownsville keeper Bryce Fisher turned aside 10 shots.
