By The 3 min read

Callie Cunningham was sitting on 99 goals for a week or so, but the Connellsville goal scorer finally reached the century mark Wednesday night as the Lady Falcons celebrated Senior Night with a 7-1 Section 3-AAAA win over visiting Hempfield.

Belle Vernon’s Jill Butchi entered Wednesday night with 96 goals and managed to reach the century mark in the Lady Leopards’ 11-0 Section 2-AAA victory over visiting Elizabeth Forward.

Connellsville (11-4) finished third in the section with an 8-4 record. The Lady Spartans go to 4-6 in the section and 4-7 overall.

Morgan Lukaesko set up Cunningham’s 100th goal with 35:16 remaining in the first half.

Cunningham then scored the last goal of the first half and first goal of the second half for the hat trick.

Neveah Hamborsky scored two goals for Connellsville, both coming from Madison Shoemaker corner kicks. Shoemaker finished with four assists in the first half.

Mary Kate Lape scored a pair of first-half goals, as well, and added an assist.

Connellsville played three keepers in the match. Allison Zavatchan made one save, Madison Kinneer didn’t face a shot, and Brianna Soltis allowed a penalty kick late in the second half on three shots.

Butchki reached the century mark in the first half with her 100th goal giving the Lady Leopards (11-0, 12-2) a 6-0 lead.

Farrah Reader scored a hat trick in the first half and added a fourth goal in the second half. Morgan Einodshofer scored a pair of goals and assisted on two others. Katie Hrycko also scored for Belle Vernon.

Grace Henderson played in goal in the first half and Victoria Rodriguez in the second half to shut out the Lady Warriors (7-4, 7-6).

Bentworth 3, Chartiers-Houston 2, OT — Jocelyn Timlin scored a hat trick, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead Bentworth to a Section 2-A victory over visiting Chartiers-Houston.

The Lady Bearcats improve to 10-0 in the section and 14-1 overall, and clinched no worse than a share of the section title. The section title is the third in the past four seasons for Bentworth.

The Lady Bucs (10-6) are in second place with an 8-2 record.

Timlin scored one goal in each half, including the game-tying goal in the second half. Paige Marshalek assisted on all three goals.

“Overall, I was ver happy, happy with how we dominated the game and did grind out the result,” said Bentworth coach Tyler Hamstra. “We could’ve finished the game off early, but historically the we let Chartiers-Houston hang around. Chartiers-Houston should be proud. They always play us tough.

“To win the section title against them for the third time is special.”
