Info sessions slated

California University of Pennsylvania’s School of Graduate Studies and Research will hold information sessions at noon and 6 p.m. Oct. 14 at the campus’ Convocation Center. Prospective students interested in pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree can meet with faculty, financial aid staff, students and alumni to learn about Cal U graduate programs. Overnight visit offered

Waynesburg University will host an overnight visit for prospective students Nov. 10-11. Open to current high school seniors, the event will give prospective students a closer look at residence life, classes and student activities. Participants will be assigned host students and stay in campus dorms with current university students during the visit while participating in activities and exploring the campus. SRO training offered

The Office of Outreach and Continuing Education at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, will host a Basic School Resource Officer course Nov. 11-15. The five-day, 40-hour course offered in collaboration with the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) is designed for any law enforcement officer or school administrator working in an educational environment. The cost to attend is $445 for NASRO members and $495 for non-members. Registration: www.nasro.org/events/?event-id=1205. The deadline to register is Oct. 27. Poster contest open

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board announced its 2019 Alcohol Awareness Poster Contest for students across the state in grades K-12. Entries must feature a clear “no-use” message about underage drinking and may be created using any artistic medium. The contest is open to all Pennsylvania students in grades K-12, including those who are home-schooled or in private or parochial schools.
