Trinity scored with 31 seconds remaining to rally for a 28-25 Big Eight Conference game against Laurel Highlands on Friday at Mustang Field.

The Mustangs (2-5, 2-8) rallied from a 21-0 deficit to take a four-point lead in the fourth quarter when Rodney Gallagher scored on a 41-yard yard run. Gallagher had a team-high 50 yards rushing.

The Hillers (3-4, 3-6) scored two touchdowns in the first quarter for a 14-0 lead and added another score in the second for a 21-0 advantage before Tyler Christopher scored on a one-yard run.

Gallagher pulled in a 13-yard touchdown reception from Christopher and Zak Layton added the extra point for a 21-13 Trinity lead at halftime. Gallagher had five catches for 81 yards and Christopher was 16 of 25 for 148 yards.

ShiNeill Thomas’ six-yard run in the third quarter got Laurel Highlands within two.

Aaron Huey led the Mustangs in tackles with eight, including two for negative yards.
