Club Hub: Society for Creative Anachronism information

CaliforniaUniversity Medieval and Fencing Club, part of The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA)

Purpose: The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), according to its website, is an international non-profit volunteer educational organization devoted to the research and re-creation of pre-17th century skills, arts, combat, culture, and employing knowledge of history to enrich the lives of participants through events, demonstrations and other educational presentations and activities.

Membership: The California University branch has about 30 members, ranging in age from 18 to 75. Members don’t have to be Cal U. students.

Meetings and dues: Meetings are 5-9 p.m. Thursdays in the basement of Hamer Hall. There are no dues for the local chapter but members are encouraged to join SCA, which offers benefits, such as a newsletter and discounts to events.
