Quarzo sisters finish 1-2 at Red, White & Blue
The Quarzo sisters finished 1-2 in their first invitational, the Marty Uher Invitational at Cal U, and the pair repeated the finish Saturday at the Red, White & Blue Invitational held at Schenley Park.
Gionna Quarzo cruised to first place in the AA race with a winning time of 18:05.40. Jolena Quarzo finished 50 seconds later. Quaker Valley’s Annie Wicker was third in 19:18.
The sisters also finished 1-2 overall in the AA-A race. Ashton Reposky (33, 22:35.18) and Jade Winans (137, 31:16.38) ran for the Lady Falcons, who did not have enough runners to score.
Belle Vernon’s Grace Henderson was fourth in the AA race in 19:50.59. Katelynn Keegan (62, 24:08.45) also ran for the Lady Leopards.
Elizabeth Forward’s Hannah Hebda placed 18th overall in the AA race with a time of 21:36.14. Marissa Manko (22, 21:48.49), Sophia Lee-Hauser (23, 21:49.69), Corinne Lee-Hauser (30, 22:14.11), and Laci Schwirian (63, 24:12.44) also counted in the scoring for the Lady Warriors, who finished fourth with 120 points.
Ringgold’s Charlee Leach was 21st in the AA race in 21:47.69. Andrea Kassa (28, 22:10.44), Anjolina Hrycko (50, 23:20.56), Matigan Evans (61, 24:07.45), and Crystal Schuster (86, 25:50.20) also had scoring runs for the Lady Rams, who finished seventh in the team standings with 198 points.
Haley Filcheck was the first Laurel Highlands girl to cross the finish line in the AA race, breaking the tape in 23:47.55. Elena Cavanaugh (72, 24:45.15), Isabella Stefanini (88, 26:01.17), Elizabeth Thomas (99, 26:44.66), and Elizabeth Purnell (109, 27:19.64) counted in the final score for the Fillies.
West Greene’s Katie Lampe was 40th in the A race with a time of 19:31.70. Isabella Stokes (43 overall, 24:19.64), Kiley Meek (71, 26:29.20), Sarah Collins (90, 28:23.36), and Alexandria Six (96, 28:34.94) were the Lady Pioneers’ top-5 finishers.
Five local runners finished in the top 25 in the boys AA race, including Ringgold’s Lucas Pajak (4, 16:44.93), Ben Daerr (7, 17:11.19), and Ethan Gamble (19, 17:38.38), and Laurel Highlands’ Brendan Kopich (8, 17:11.82) and Issac Meeder (21, 17:48.51).
Lorenzo Zeni (44, 18:36.34) and Nick Whaley (57, 19:03.94) closed out the scoring runs for the Rams, who finished fourth in the AA standings with 124 points.
Joe Casteel (28, 18:04.64), Brett Lemansky (35, 18:21.89), and Michael Brown (86, 20:02.89) rounded out the top-5 finishes for the Mustangs. Laurel Highlands placed seventh with 167 points.
Noah Lehner led Belle Vernon to the finish line in 18:19.50.
Elizabeth Forward’s Christian Guinto-Brody finished 46th overall in 18:43.64. Stephen Frost was 71st in 19:28.76 and Kodi McCall was 134th in 27.48.68.
Levi Corbly led the West Greene boys to the finish in the A race in 19:54.75. Kaden Shields (69, 20:59.13), Nash Bloom (83, 21:32.25), Parker Smith (114, 23:54.41), and Ian Vandyne (116, 24:15.14) counted in the scoring for the Pioneers.
Connellsville’s Dominic Prestipino finished 64th overall in the AAA race with a time of 17:38.79. Zach Bigam (74, 17:46.91), Bruce Foster (132, 18:44.45), Kyle Jordan (181, 19:22.97), and Tanner Ambrisco (182, 19:23.20) rounded out the top-5 finishers for the Falcons.
Chloe Kalp finished 145th for the Lady Falcons with a time of 23:23.99. Alyssa Ambriso (163, 23:57.70), Gabrielle Pisarski (180, 24:25.45), Hailey Murray (213, 26:33.30), and Cadence Watson (214, 26:34.71) also factored in the team scoring.
