James L. Brown
Perryopolis
James L. Brown, 94, of Perryopolis, died Thursday, January 18, 2024. He was born January 13, 1930, in Smithton, a son of the late James and Mary Josephine Danielson Brown.
James was a member of the Methodist Church of West Newton.
Prior to retirement he farmed all of his life and also worked as a union carpenter for Brownsville Construction, Rust Engineering, William Garlick & Sons, and Randell Paul Construction.
Since retiring, he loved cutting grass and helping at his son’s farm equipment business.
Surviving are his wife, Rosemarie Kimberly Brown; sons, Kevin Brown and wife Cindy, and James Brown and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Ashley Desko and husband Josh, Caitlyn Luce and husband Michael, Melissa Kacmar and husband Jayson, and Matthew Brown; great- grandchildren, Evelyn Desko and Andrew Kacmar; sister, Meredith Schuler; sister-in-law, Carole Brown; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Brown.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 21, in the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME, 901 Vine Street, West Newton, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday, January 22. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
