Elizabeth Forward rolled through another playoff game Monday afternoon with an 8-0 victory over Archbishop Wood for a spot in the PIAA Class AAAA softball championship.

The Lady Warriors (23-1) will play Blue Mountain in the state title game at Nittany Lion Softball Park on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Blue Mountain (26-1) defeated Northwest Lehigh in the other semifinal game, 5-3.

Julia Resnik paced the Lady Warriors’ 14-hit attack with three hits. Julia Resnik, Berlyn Holibaugh, Hanna Evans and Telegdy all finished with two hits. Resnik, Holibaugh and Johnson drove in two runs apiece.

Addyson Nigut’s sacrifice fly spotted Elizabeth Forward the lead in the first inning. The Lady Warriors’ added to the lead with two more runs.

Elizabeth Forward added four runs to its lead in the third inning. Johnson drove in the first run with a single. Resnik added a two-run double later in the inning.

Shelby Telegdy pitched another gem, allowing four hits and one walk. She struck out nine batters to reach the 500 strikeout mark for her career.
