Restoration of historic cast-iron bridge in Brownsville delays reopening
The Fayette County coroner is seeking help identifying a man whose body was found in the Youghiogheny River near Dawson Sunday night. In a release, Dr. Bob Baker said the man was a middle-aged white male, bald, with an athletic build and a tattoo of a mountain range on his right shoulder. The man was found by two fishermen around 7:35 p.m., said Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Kalee Barnhart. There is no indication of how the man died, Barnhart said. Baker said an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death. Baker asked the public to call 724-430-1270 with any information that could help identify the man.

The Learning Lamp, with funding from an Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) POWER grant, provided mini-grats to new and existing child care providers in the region. The money allowed providers to invest in quality programs, better support children and expand access to child care. Fifty-seven grants of up to $1,000 were given in Fayette, Somerset, Westmoreland, Blair, Bedford and Cambria counties. A California Area High School student was killed Friday night in an electric dirt bike accident. Jim Smith, California police chief, said a 16-year-old male was driving the electric dirt bike near Highland Drive behind Adamson Stadium at about 8:30 p.m. Responding officers found a motorcycle into a tree which had fallen across the road.
