Participants in a past Seed to Supper program put their new gardening skills to work. The free program, held by Penn State Extension Master Gardeners, returns this year.

Penn State Extension Fayette County Master Gardeners have partnered with Carnegie Free Library of Connellsville and Uniontown Public Library to offer the Master Gardener 2025 Seed to Supper program.

Seed to Supper is a free comprehensive vegetable gardening program that provides both beginner and experienced gardeners the science and tools they need to learn how to successfully grow a portion of their own food on a limited budget.

Classes cover vegetable gardening fundamentals: soil preparation, garden planning, maintenance, and harvest. At completion of the class, participants will be able to start a raised bed, in-ground or container garden, or be prepared to participate in a community garden. Course books and other supplies are provided at no charge.

Each course includes five two-hour long sessions beginning Saturday, March 15 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Connellsville Carnegie Free Library, and Monday, March 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Uniontown Public Library at the same time each week for five consecutive weeks.

Individuals from age 15 and older can register at either of the libraries.
