Quilts of Valor were recently presented to three local U.S. Army veterans honoring their military service. Recipients were Chester Poskon, who served in Vietnam; Charles Taylor, Germany; and Bernard Zsiros, Vietnam.
The Quilt of Valor is an expression of gratitude meant to comfort the veteran and thank them for their service. The presentation was made by Jerry Stiner, representing the Quilts of Valor Foundation, a national organization, in correlation with the New Salem American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 753.
Stiner, who stitched the quilts, is also a member of the New Salem auxiliary. The service took place at the Unit’s regular monthly meeting, with the honorees’ wives in attendance.
