NDSAR holds ‘Give Like Dolly Day’
The Fort Necessity Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution held a casual meetup Sept. 25, “Give Like Dolly Day,” at the Historic Summit Inn, Farmington.
Embracing and honoring Dolly Parton’s generous nature, members and a guest made financial contributions to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, donated books for local Little Free Libraries and feminine care products for women in need, as well as gift cards to be sent to the Native American Colville Tribe in Washington state via their Cedar Fund, after they lost 43 homes to wildfires this summer.
The NSDAR was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism across the United States. DAR members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share a common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America.
Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join this service organization.
