The Fayette County Firefighters Association received a $25,000 donation from NextEra Energy Resources to support the development of a new fire school and training facility. The facility will provide firefighters with expanded opportunities for hands-on training and emergency response preparation. Funding has come from a variety of local, state and federal sources, with the firefighters association also pursuing a federal appropriation supported by the county's congressional delegation. While significant progress has been made, additional contributions are still needed. "We're grateful to NextEra Energy Resources for its generous support of this project and its commitment to Fayette County," said John Maddas, president of the Fayette County Firefighters Association. NextEra is advancing development activities for the proposed East Riverside Energy Center in Fayette County. As part of its commitment to being a community partner, the company supports local organizations and initiatives that help strengthen the communities where it develops projects.[Ed Riedmann]
