Volunteers at the City Church of Connellsville and the City Mission in Washington prepared and served Thanksgiving meals on Thursday, offering turkey and all the fixings.
At Connellsville Senior Center in Fayette County, volunteer Jackie Shopes was one of about 100 who prepared or served the annual meal. She said they served or delivered about 1,000 meals.
Washington City Mayor JoJo Burgess was one of the many volunteers that helped serve at the City Mission Dining Hall on Thursday.
“It’s important for everyone in the community to know that they have a place to go,” he said. “It’s about taking care of everyone.”
