A Fayette County jury convicted Sylvester Conaway, 56, of East Millsboro, of third-degree murder in the stabbing death of Shawn “Sonny” Hriscisce II at a home in Redstone Township on Jan. 31, 2024. The jury returned its verdict late Wednesday afternoon. In a complaint filed against Conaway, police said he stabbed Hriscisce in the chest at a home in the 500 block of Hilltop Road and then fled in a vehicle, throwing the knife out of the window. A Fayette County judge will sentence Conaway at a later date. A third-degree murder conviction carries a maximum penalty of 20 to 40 years in prison. Additional details were not available as of press time.
