Salvation Army volunteers serve up a Thanksgiving meal
About 250 people had an early Thanksgiving meal provided by the Uniontown Salvation Army on Wednesday. Christine Bell, employee-in-charge, said volunteers – including members of Lafayette Elementary/Middle School’s student council – prepared and served a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
Bell said about 100 people ate at the Salvation Army, nearly as many as come to the organization’s daily lunch.
For many, Bell said “it’s the only meal they get to eat that day.”
The remainder of the Thanksgiving meals were taken to Marshall Manor apartments in Uniontown, and distributed to those who are homeless.
