A man was shot and killed Thursday night in Uniontown, and state police are searching for the teen accused of firing the gun and running from the scene.

Lemaur Thompson Jr., 20, of Uniontown, died from a gunshot wound to the head after he was shot on Dunlap Street in the city, Fayette County District Attorney Michael Aubele said.

Aubele said Thompson and 18-year-old Braedon Dickinson were walking down the street when Dickson pulled out a gun and shot Thompson. Dickinson apparently went through Thompson’s pants pockets and took the contents, Aubele said. Thompson was taken to WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are unsure of the motive, but Aubele said Dickinson and Thompson knew each other.

“It’s still too early to tell, but both of these individuals have known ties to local gangs in our area, so we’re investigating that,” Aubele said.

An arrest warrant was filed Thursday night for Dickinson, of Connellsville, on charges of homicide, robbery, possession of a prohibited weapon and reckless endangerment.

Aubele added that Dickinson was previously charged with homicide in New Kensington four years ago when he was 14. His case was transferred to juvenile court, and he had since been released.

Anyone with information on Dickinson’s location is asked to call state police at the Fayette County barracks at 724-439-7111
