Singing and playing the blues in Wheeling
They’ll be singing the blues at the Heritage Port in Wheeling, W.Va., this weekend, but not necessarily because there will be hordes of sad people by the Ohio River.
Instead, they’ll be there for Heritage Music Bluesfest, three days of music from leading contemporary blues musicians. Among the artists on the bill this year are J.J. Grey and Mofro, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Anders Osborne, Sonny Landreth, Miss Freddye’s Roots of the Soul and more.
Performances take place on two stages. General admission gates open at 3:30 p.m. Friday. Gates open at 11 a.m. Saturday and at 10 a.m. Sunday. There will be an official AfterJam party at Wheeling’s Waterfront Hall from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.
The festival will happen rain or shine. Kids under age 12 get in for free to the general admission area. Children under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
