Vintage ‘Base Ball’ to be played at Meadowcroft Saturday

Visitors to Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village will be able to watch a couple of baseball games that have an 1860s twist when the Somerset Frosty Suns of Thunder and the Addison Mountain Stars face off against each other.
During Meadowcroft’s Vintage Base Ball Day, players – or “ballists” – play without modern gloves and use a single-bounce catch rule for an out.
Visitors who want to watch a game are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs to sit along the field.
It gets underway at 10 a.m. Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village is located on Meadowcroft Road outside Avella in Jefferson Township. For information, go online to heinzhistorycenter.org.
