‘Off the Rails’ exhibit opening
The Irma Freeman Center for Imagination in Pittsburgh is presenting the exhibit “Off the Rails, From Steel to Canvas,” featuring the work of graffiti artists 21rak and Lies Crew. The opening reception will be Friday starting at 6 p.m.
In the fall of 1994, in Pittsburgh, artists 21rak and Kemist, after years of graffiti activity, decided to create the crew Lies. More than 30 years later, Lies has grown to 30 members, spanning several states. As 21rak puts
it, “The fundamental meaning of Lies is: Living It Every Second; which is how we felt about graffiti back then, it was something we did or thought about all the time, every second.”
The exhibition closes Aug. 7. For information, send an email message to info@irmafreeman.org or call 412-924-0634.
