Art-inspired mini golf comes to the Westmoreland this summer
The Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg is inviting visitors of all ages to tee up for mini golf fun with “Putt-a-palooza: Art-Inspired Mini Golf” opening Friday.
This interactive experience transforms the museum’s large Cantilever Gallery into a nine-hole mini golf course. Each custom hole is based on a different artwork on view in the museum’s galleries. Golfers round out their play by earning extra points through a scavenger hunt to identify the works that served as inspiration for the holes and to answer trivia questions about the art.
“After the success of the Art Maze last year, we look forward to welcoming visitors this summer to enjoy a one-of-kind mini golf experience that approaches art in a playful and engaging way,” said Silvia Filippini-Fantoni, director and CEO of The Westmoreland Museum of American Art. “We want people to walk away feeling entertained and that they learned something new.”
To create “Putt-a-palooza,” the Westmoreland collaborated with artist duo A Couple of Putts, who specialize in designing unique mini golf holes inspired by art and other subject matter. Production of the holes was completed by 3DX Scenic, a fabricator of immersive theming for amusement parks, museums, zoos, live events, and more.
“Putt-a-palooza” will remain open through Aug. 30. For information, call 724-837-1500 or go online to thewestmoreland.org.
