Hickory Apple Festival happens this weekend

The humble apple is known to keep the doctor away when consumed daily, and is also the name of a technology behemoth and the Beatles’ record label.
The apple is also something that has drawn visitors to the community of Hickory for decades when autumn rolls around. The reason is the Hickory Apple Festival, and it will be happening this Saturday and Sunday.
There will be a petting zoo, face painting, an animal show and demonstrations of things like chainsaw sculpting and blacksmithing.
It will be at the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Company. Admission is free. For information, go online to the Hickory Apple Festival Facebook page.
