Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) is inviting audiences to a behind-the-scenes look at its all-new production of “The Nutcracker,” which will premiere in December 2027.

The event, “First Look: The Nutcracker 2027,” will be Dec. 7, at 7 pm at the Benedum Center.

PBT Artistic Director Adam W. McKinney will offer a sneak peek at the making of the new ballet, from conceiving the storyline and determining the characters to creating the choreography and designing the costumes and scenery. “First Look” will also have a performance of one of the dances that will appear in the new production.

“I am extremely excited to unveil this first look at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s upcoming new version of “The Nutcracker,” McKinney said. “Audiences will love the familiar traditional elements of “The Nutcracker” combined with fun, whimsy, and new local Pittsburgh connections in this 2027 version.”

The new version of “The Nutcracker” will succeed PBT’s current production of Terrence S. Orr’s “The Nutcracker,” which will end its 25-year run in December.
