Raymond L. Johnson, 64, of Mt. Morris, died at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015, at the U.P.M.C. Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Thursday, April 27, 1950 in Waynesburg, a son of the late Orris Lee Johnson and Edith Franks Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was a Veteran having served from 1970 to 1972 with the U.S. Army Infantry during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, Local #9909, and the Bobtown Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He had worked as a coal miner for Humphrey #7 Coal Mine in Mt. Morris and the Loveridge Coal Mine in Fairview, West Virginia for over 32 years.

He is survived by his wife, Martha M.”Marty” Pecjak Johnson, whom he married on July 23, 1970.

Also surviving are three daughters, Donna (James) Yoney, of Mt. Morris, Jennifer (Michael) Bane, of Waynesburg and Amy (Jay) Haines, of Mt. Morris; seven grandchildren, Joshua Marchsteiner, Cora Ruth, Tora Ruth, Ryley Metheny, Garrett Haines, Grace Haines, and Brayden Mort; two sisters, Ethel Herrington, of Waynesburg and Linda Beal, of Dilliner; one brother, Gary Johnson, of Bobtown and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are one grandson, Casey Sharratt and three brothers, Orris “Porky” Johnson, Terry N. Johnson, and Wesley Johnson.

At the request of the deceased there will be no public visitation. There will be a public Memorial Service held at the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, Owner/Director, 324 Mt. Morris Road, P.O. Box 478, Mt. Morris, PA 15349, on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Edward Hanley officiating. Burial will be private. There will be no greeting of friends prior to the service. Following the service at the funeral home the family asks that everyone gather at the James T. Maxon American Legion Post #992 of Mt. Morris for a meal and a time to greet the family.

The family asks that no floral tributes be sent and instead to give memorials to the Greene County Humane Society 183 Jefferson Road, Waynesburg, PA. 15370.
