Purple Heart car show to be held
CARMICHAELS – On July 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wana B Park, cars of all ilk, tractors and motorcycles will “line up” in formation where members of the public can walk by and view the collectibles.
This annual car show, honoring Purple Heart Veterans, is all thanks to the work of Frank Smith. Smith is better known as “commander” of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 34 and is a veteran himself.
“The only fee associated with this event is a $10 charge to those who bring in their cars to show,” Smith said “There is no admission fee for spectators.”
However, Smith did say there are opportunities for the public to spend some money, particularly on food, a Chinese auction and a 50/50.
Smith said the Purple Heart Chapter used to hold the event at the Carmichaels Veteran of Foreign Wars Post, but noted, “We outgrew the space.”
Smith said the day is a fun time for the whole family and the money taken in through those various sources goes directly to services for veterans, he said.
