Uniontown Jolliffe named controller

Nancy Decker, director of the Laurel Business Institute (LBI) in Uniontown recently hired Vicki Jolliffe as the controller for the school.

In her new position, Jolliffe will be responsible for maintaining the organization’s computerized general ledger, preparing monthly financial statements and annual budgets, billing students, balancing bank statements and managing other accounting tasks.

Jolliffe, a 1996 accounting graduate of LBI, worked from 1996 to 1999 as a staff accountant for Kisiel, Grenell, & Associates, a certified public accounting firm located in Connellsville.

In 1999, she moved to Carnegie Mellon Driver Training and Safety Institute, Connellsville, where she started as the administrative assistant and was promoted to office manager.

Most recently, Jolliffe was the general manager for Jackson Hewitt Tax Service in Connellsville. Jolliffe is also a member of the Connellsville Chamber of Commerce.

She and her family reside in Lemont Furnace.

The Laurel Business Institute provides employer-driven education with nine specialized associate degree programs and professional certifications in accounting, business, information technology, childcare, customer service, hospitality and health-related fields.

Mundorff re-elected

Gretchen A. Mundorff, a partner in the Connellsville law firm of Watson Mundorff Brooks & Sepic, was re-elected secretary of the Pennsylvania Bar Association during the organization’s annual meeting held May 1-3 in Hershey.

Mundorff will serve for a one-year term.

A member of the PBA House of Delegates, Mundorff is a former PBA zone 6 governor and chair of the PBA Young Lawyers Division and Bar Leadership Institute.

She is a fellow of the American and Pennsylvania Bar foundations and is a member of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Disciplinary Board Hearing Committee. Mundorff also serves on the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the educational arm of the PBA, and as solicitor for the Fayette County Zoning Hearing Board, Connellsville Township and Dunbar Borough/Township Sanitary Authority.

Mundorff is active in her community, serving on the boards of the Connellsville Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and United Way.

She was recognized by the American Red Cross with the Coldren Award for volunteer service and received the Athena Award from the Chamber of Commerce. She also was named a Paul Harris fellow by the Rotary. Mundorff currently serves as president of the United Methodist Women of the Albright United Methodist Church in South Connellsville and is the youth Sunday School teacher.

She is a graduate of Chatham College and the Marshall Wythe School of Law, College of William and Mary.

Sobek new supervisor

The board of the Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette Inc., recently appointed Mary Jane Sobek as project supervisor in Fayette and Westmoreland counties for the Job Retention Advancement Rapid Re-Employment Program (JRARRE). The program is designed to assist applicants, who meet program guidelines, to enhance their job skills for advancement at their present job or obtain better employment. She will also supervise and monitor the Welfare-to-Work and Community Service Programs.

Sobek’s business experience includes 24 years of service with the Prudential Insurance Co. in Belle Vernon where she worked as a senior service coordinator. In recent years she was employed as the administrative assistant to the president of Kerestes Media Associates in Southpointe in Canonsburg.

Sobek is a graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School, Douglas School of Business and Penn State University where she earned her bachelor of science degree in business administration. She is a member of the Pi Sigma Phi Honor Society of Penn State and the Phi Kappa Phi National Business Fraternity.

A member of the Mon Valley Chapter of the Pittsburgh Opera and choir member at St. Sebastian Church, she resides in Belle Vernon.
