Opal Jubin
Opal Smell Jubin, 98 years and one week of New Salem, Pa., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, in King’s Personal Care Home of Hopwood. She was born Nov. 19, 1904, in McClellandtown, Pa., daughter of the late Claude and Malinda Shoaf Smell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Jubin on June 26, 2000; an infant son; a sister, Edna Smell; and a brother, Glenn Smell.
Opal was a member of the First Christian Church of New Salem for over 50 years, where she had served as Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Loyal Daughters.
She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her son, Donald (Don) Jubin and his wife, Janet of Johnstown, Pa., and son, Robert (Bob) Jubin and his wife, Bernadette (Bernie) of Smock; six grandchildren, Mary Beth Krause and her husband, Dennis, Robert Jubin Jr., and his wife, Jennifer, Jonathan Jubin and his wife, Stephanie, Jamie Jubin Schiffbauer, Melanie Lavash and her husband, Rob and Laurie Jo Zentkovich and her husband, Ric; 19 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Kevin Krause, Robert George Jubin III, Baby J. to be born in 2003, Jennifer, Jessica, Austin and Trenton Jubin, Eddie Wells Jubin, Justin and Jason Jubin, Jacob and Candace Schiffbauer, Jonathan, Leesha, Tony and Brandon Yuschick, and Zachary, Zoey and Zane Zentkovich; two sisters, Mabel Hostetler and her husband, Jack and Ethel Reahard, all of Uniontown; and several nieces and nephews.
Opal was a beloved Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother and will be sadly missed by all her family and all who knew her.
Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with Pastor Andy Miles officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown. The Family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Salem First Christian Church, 40 North Mill St., New Salem, or to the Uniontown Public Library.
