Reminders

Morning Star Grange is taking orders for its Easter egg sale until April 7. Available are one pound eggs in eight varieties, chocolate, chocolate nut, coconut, maple nut, fruit and nut (nut, pineapple, cherry), fudge, fudge nut, and peanut butter, $6 each.

Pennsylvania and federal income tax forms are now available at the Frazier Community Library during public hours. Please do not come in during school hours.

The Book Club will meet on March 24 to discuss Geraldin Brooks’ “Year of Wonders.”

The next Frazier Band hoagie sales will take place on March 15 and April 19.

Perry Area Baseball meetings are held at 6 p.m. on the last Thursday of each month from January until June at the Perryopolis Borough Building.

The Perry Area Ambulance Service will order 911 address change signs at a cost of $15. Visit the ambulance service at the borough building.

The Frazier Talent Show will be held on March 27 at 6 p.m.

Perry Township High School, classes 1906 to 1951 reunion, July 19 at Sampey Park, Perryopolis. Addresses are needed for classes 1920 through 1933. Addresses may be sent to Robert L. Taylor, P.O. Box 142, Star Junction, Pa., 15482.

Township recycling

Perry Township residents may recycle all their newspaper, magazines, glass, tin cans, plastic and aluminum on Saturday, March 15, in Star Junction at the township shed.

Tin cans, glass and plastic should be rinsed out. Newspaper and magazines must be dry and should be bound in twine.

The county recycling center does not accept window glass or drinking glasses. No plastic that held toxic materials can be recycled.

Cow pie

On April 5 at the Frazier Football Stadium, the junior class is sponsoring a cow pie bingo fund-raiser for the junior class prom. Contact any junior member, booster member for tickets or call Jean at 724-736-2440 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to offer assistance or for more information.

Next junior class booster meeting will be Monday at 6 p.m. at the high school cafeteria. All junior class parents are welcomed to attend.

Library news

Girls softball

Perry Girls Softball Association will meet on the last Wednesday of each month at 8 p.m. at the Borough Building. All parents are encouraged to attend the meetings.

Smock Historical Society

The Smock Historical Society is planning two spring fund-raisers, the annual Easter roll sale and a calendar party. The Easter rolls include nut, apricot, poppy seed and prune at $6.50 each. The calendar party will be held in May.

United Methodist fund-raiser

A spring spectacular fund-raiser will be held on March 18 at the Perryopolis Sons of Italy hall, from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission will be $1 at the door.

An Ecumenical Lenten luncheon of soup and sandwich will be held on Wednesday, March 12, at the Methodist Church from noon to 1.

Christian Church

Pastor Paul will offer a pastor’s class for young people interested in preparing for Christian Baptism and church membership on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. during the Sunday School hour. A sign-up sheet has been posted on the bulletin board. Please let Pastor Paul know if you would like to be a part of the class, but cannot attend the Sunday morning class. Phone 724-736-8311.

Preschool registration

Registration for St. John Preschool for the 2003-04 school year will be held March 24 to 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m

The preschool is located in the religious education center near the rectory. Two age groups may attend. The class for 3-year-olds meets on Tuesday and Thursday at $45 month. The class for the 4-year-olds meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at a cost of $55 a month.

Football Boosters

All parents of Frazier High School and Middle School football players are encouraged to attend the first meeting of the upcoming season. The meeting will be held on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Frazier Community Library. Plans for fund-raisers will be discussed and your input is important. Officers for this year are: president, Cindy Gardner; vice president, John Rehe; treasurer, Cindy Rehe; and secretary, Marian Lancaster.

Auction

Bud and Michael Morris will hold auctions at the Moose Lodge in Perryopolis every Tuesday, starting at 6 p.m. The Moose doors open at 3 so that bidders may inspect the merchandise. Any person having an item they want sold may contact Michael at 724-736-0557 or Bud Morris at 724-677-2414 to have items put on the auction block.

Band hoagies

The Frazier Band will hold a hoagie sale on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Perryopolis Sons of Italy. Hoagies are $4 each.

Contact any band member if you would like to order one. This Frazier band hoagie sale will be the last one for the school year.

Book Club

The Book Club will meet March 24 at 7 p.m. in the Community Library to discuss “Year of Wonders” by Geraldine Brooks. “Fall on Your Knees” by Ann-Marie MacDonald is the selection for the April 28 meeting.

Flower Club news

The Flower Club will hold a fund-raiser to pay for the spring planting of the town circle, war memorial and other areas in town. To fund the Flower Club’s efforts, they are holding a Krispy Kreme Donut sale.

Krispy Kreme donuts will be sold at $6 a dozen. Orders may be placed until March 15 with Flower Club members or by calling Lynn Murphy at 724-736-8476. The donuts will be delivered to the Christian Church Family Life Center for pickup at 1 p.m. on March 22.

The March meeting of the Flower Club has been changed from Wednesday, March 19, to Tuesday, March 18, at noon at the Christian Church Family Life. This change is due to the Lenten Luncheons being held by the church on Wednesdays.

Anyone wishing to see the flower club thrive in their planting efforts, should contact any Flower Club member to offer assistance.
