Roy E. Dye
Roy E. Dye, 74, of Uniontown, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, in the Horizon Personal Care Home, with his loving family by his side. He was born July 28, 1930, in McClellandtown, Pa.
Mr. Dye was a graduate of the German Township High School Class of 1938, received his Associate’s Degree in Criminology from American University and was a graduate of the F.B.I. Academy. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and later entered the United States Secret Service, where he served 30 years under six Presidents. He was also a member of the Uniontown Great Bethel Baptist Church, and was previously a member of the First Baptist Church of Laurel, Md., where he was a Deacon in 1975, serving this position for 25 years. Mr. Dye was also a member of the Uniformed Division Retirement Association, a Lifetime Member of AMVETS General Marshall Post 103 Hopwood and a member of Laurel Wreath Lodge F & AM of Laurel, Md.
Preceding him in death were his father, Roy P. Dye and an infant brother.
Surviving him are his wife, Barbara A. Spaw Dye; his mother, Catherine Dean Dye of Fairchance , Pa.; three children, Thomas R. Dye and wife Beth of Whitehall, Pa., Sharon Rankin and husband Anthony of Shavertown, Pa. and Daniel E. Dye and wife Anna of Jessup, Md.; and seven grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, Md., 20707, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Laurel, Md. Services will be held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Stanley Beall and the Rev. Dr. Franklin Perry officiating, followed by interment in Veterans Military Cemetery, Crownsville, Md. A small visitation was held for the immediate family at the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, Uniontown, Pa.
