Helen “Trudy” Garred Thompson
Helen “Trudy” Garred Thompson, age 79, of Uniontown, Pa., died Thursday, July 20, 2006. She was born December 2, 1926, in Brownsville, Pa.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of Saint John The Evangelist Church, the North Union Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8543 Ladies Auxiliary and the B.P.O. Elks 370 Ladies Auxiliary.
She had previously been employed at Manufacturers Light and Heat and also Brownsville General Hospital and had managed the Health Mart in Brownsville.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Bernard L. Garred and Anna Margaret Rohaley Garred, her husband, John F. Thompson Jr., two brothers, Bernard Garred Jr. and George Garred, and two sisters, Mary Ann Garred Psotka and Catherine Garred Brosky.
Surviving are four children: Robert Thompson and Patty Jeffries and her husband, Jim, all of Uniontown, Russell Thompson and his fianc?e, Carol Smarslok, of Lemont Furnace, Pa., and Raymond Thompson and his wife, Kim, of Hopwood, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; one great grandson; and ten siblings: Thomas Garred of Florida, Rita Monti and her husband, Leonard, and James Garred and his wife, Katherine, all of Arizona, John Garred and his wife, Krista, and Hugh “Kip” Garred and his wife, Nancy, all of Cleveland, Ohio, Theresa McGovern of Chicago, Illinois, Barbara Taylor and her husband, Sam, of Brownsville, Pa., Christine Chamberlain and her husband, Mike, of Florida, Anna Margaret Krebbs of Detroit, Michigan, and Bonnie Woodward and her husband, Jim, of Houston, Texas.
Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today (Monday, July 24) until 9 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in Saint John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, with the Rev. Father Michael J. Crookston as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Redstone Cemetery, Brownsville, Pa.
Visitation was also held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
