Gertrude E. ‘Gert’ Abbadini
Gertrude E. (Gert) Abbadini age 85 of Hiller, Pa., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at her home. She was born on April 10, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late James B. and Louise (Fantini) Rosa, formerly of LaBelle, Pa.
She was a member of the Historic Church of St. Peter- Brownsville, Pa., CD of A Brownsville Court 1141 ‘Birthday Girls’.
She and her late husband owned and operated Abbadini’s Bar and Restaurant in Bentleyville, Pa. from 1952 till 1979 when they moved to Hiller.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry A. Abbadini and Sister-in-law Ann Abbadini
Left to cherish her memory are her sister Lillian Baroni and husband Frank, Naperville Ill.; brothers-in-law: Orlando Abbadini, Richeyville, Pa., Robert Abbadini and wife Gladys, Waynesburg, Pa.: Cousin and caregiver: Helene Dellarose and husband Ronald Labelle, Pa.; many beloved cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
‘Gert’ was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She will be remembered for her ‘Big Heart’ and loving and caring nature. Her door of her home was always open to family and friends.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME 135 Park St. Brownsville, PA on Sunday from 2 – 9 p.m., Where a prayer service will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in the Historic Church of St. Peter, Brownsville, Pa. with the Rev. Fr. Micah Kozoil as celebrant. Interment in Redstone Cemetery.
A wake service will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Funeral Home. CD of A Brownsville Court 1141 will recite the rosary at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. The family would like to thank Gert’s sitters: Joyce, Brittany and Sarah for their compassionate and loving care.
