In this AP file photo Michael Savage, 15-year-old son of prominent San Bernardino physician and surgeon, was practicing picture-taking with his new camera, when he saw motion out of the corner of his eye Thursday, July 24, 1956, San Bernardino, CA. He quickly shot this picture, tried to shoot another and in his haste, over-cranked the camera, drawing a blank with his second shot. The object disappeared in 30 seconds, he said, not over the horizon but quickly out of sight in the sky.

Officials who mention Fayette County’s 1973 report of Bigfoot and a UFO refer questions to independent investigator Stan Gordon of Greensburg.

“That’s Stan’s case,” they note.

Gordon has become well-known for his work in the field. Intrigued with UFOs as a child, he began doing research and eventually formed three volunteer groups to investigate paranormal reports before going to work on his own.

Noting the Fayette County case came in a busy year of UFO reports across the state, Gordon said, “I learned in the field in the early days, and it’s the same today, that many reports — whether a UFO sighting or strange creature report or other type of paranormal event — may seem strange and unusual but when you investigate, a high percentage of sightings have a natural or man-made explanation, especially with UFO sightings. They could be bright planets, stars, satellites, meteorites, Chinese lanterns. Now we’ll be dealing with drones flying around all over the place. A lot of things that may seem strange can be explained. But year after year, incidents occur that cannot be easily dismissed.”

Gordon said reports through the years have included Bigfoot and UFO sightings happening within a short period of each other or at the same time.

One of those reports happened on Oct. 25, 1973, in the countryside near Uniontown.

Gordon said about 15 people observed a large, red object in the sky slowly moving to the ground around 9 p.m. A farmer’s son and two young boys went to investigate. They approached a pasture where they heard high-pitched whining and sounds like a baby crying. Then they saw the object about 250 feet away either on the ground or right above it. It was now a half-sphere with a bright, white dome and flat bottom.

Gordon said, “They can’t believe what they’re seeing. Then their attention is drawn to a barbed-wire fence 75 feet away and two tall figures slowly walking behind each other in their direction. The fence posts are six feet tall. The first one is over eight feet tall. The one behind it is over seven feet. They are upright, bipedal creatures with long, dark, brownish-gray matted hair hanging down off the body and arms almost down to the ground, extremely long, no neck, making baby-cry, whining sounds. They had glowing green eyes about the size of a half dollar.”

Gordon said one of the boys ran away and the other told the farmer’s son to shoot. He fired two tracers over the creatures’ heads.

“The largest of the two creatures makes a whining sound and reaches out as if to grab at that tracer and the moment it does that, the object in the field disappears. The sound goes out. When it disappears, they see an luminous area on the ground. At that point, the creatures are slowly turning and walking back in the woods,” Gordon said.

The farmer’s son fired at the creatures but they continued walking into the woods. The witnesses ran back to their truck and called the state police.

Although he says he has no answers, Gordon said, “More and more cases with UFOs, Bigfoot and other strange creatures leads me to believe the possibility we could, with some of these, be dealing with extraterrestrial creatures or something, for lack of a better term, as inter-dimensional.”
