2 min read

Mount Pleasant Public Library is collaborating with local organizations to provide a meet-the-author talk and a small business workshop in early November.

Learn about Norvelt’s fascinating history and its connection to First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt from the authors of “Hope in Hard Times: Norvelt and the Struggle for Community During the Great Depression,” on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m., at the Norvelt Union Church.

Authors Timothy Kelly and Michael Cary will discuss the history of Norvelt, and the community works that allowed it to thrive during the Great Depression. There will be a book signing after the presentation and books will be available for purchase. The Norvelt Historical Society and the library will provide fresh baked goods and coffee. The event is free and donations are appreciated. Pre-register with the library if possible, 724-547-3850.

The Norvelt Union Church is located at 2339 Mt Pleasant Rd., Norvelt, Pa., 15674

The Mount Pleasant Library will also host a free seminar on “Cash Flow Management and 2018 Tax Law Changes for Small Businesses,” on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

To those operating a business, Cash Flow Management is a process used to define the health of the organization. For any enterprise the use of these tools are essential. There are many case studies where profitable companies failed when their cash flow was mismanaged.

With a firm understanding of the process, owners can reassure stakeholders that their investments are safe; employees that they will be paid; and service/material suppliers that the funds are available for reimbursement.

Areas to be covered for cash flow management include: how to manage your cash flow, projecting cash flow needs, critical financial ratios, and 2018 tax changes effecting small businesses.

This free workshop is taught by experts from SCORE Westmoreland and is co-sponsored by the Mt. Pleasant Business District Authority. Please pre-register at 724-547-3850 or https://westmoreland.score.org.
