Veterans and community members will gather Wednesday for the annual Fayette County Veterans Day Parade and memorial program honoring the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Parade participants will begin lining up on the west side of Connellsville at 10:15 a.m., with the parade scheduled to step off at 10:45 a.m. The parade route will travel from West Crawford Avenue toward North Pittsburgh Street and Route 119 ending at the veterans monument.

The emcee for this year’s program is Donald Sipel, and the invocation will be provided by the Rev. Steve Lamb from Albright United Methodist Church, according to Paul McFadden, secretary of the veterans commission and adjunct quartermaster for VFW Post 21.

The Connellsville Area High School JROTC will place the wreath, McFadden said. Music will be provided by Connellsville Area High School Band.

McFadden added this year’s guest speaker is Tahaney Al-Balawi, from the U.S. Navy.
