Man killed in Rostraver Township crash

A Rostraver Township man was killed after he drove his car through a guide rail and down an embankment on Interstate 70 Friday morning, according to state police.

Joseph E. Troyer was traveling east in the left lane on I-70 when the crash occurred around 7:44 a.m. in Rostraver Township, according to a release from the Belle Vernon barracks.

Police said after Troyer crashed through the guard rail, the Ford Focus he was driving traveled down an embankment and hit a tree. The car flipped onto its roof, and Troyer was trapped inside.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the car had damage to all sides, its roof and its undercarriage, and had to be towed from the scene.
